Memorial Day Weekend in Bristol, RI

We decided to spend some time in downtown Bristol today before my open house.  You certainly could tell that Memorial Day weekend is the beginning of summer in Rhode Island.  We went to lunch at a local restaurant and dined alfresco under a beautiful blue sky overlooking Narragansett Bay.  The nearby bike path was buzzing with bike riders, walkers and people roller blading.  What a wonderful way to start off the weekend.  As my open house got underway,  the streets were getting crowded with shoppers, diners, and people enjoying the warm summer day.  There was a nice cooling breeze coming off the bay and the Prudence Island Ferry had just docked and dropped off her passengers.  Several of the local restaurants, shops, art galleries, antique shops all had their doors thrown open to welcome the breeze and the visitors.  As I walked a couple of blocks downtown to collect my signs I noticed that most everyone appeared happy and relaxed.  They were smiling, laughing, holding hand while walking etc.  It made me think to myself just how lucky I am to live and work in Rhode Island.  Happy Memorial Day to everyone, and remember to Thank our Veteran’s.
